We are a beekeeping organization from the Morazán Department of El Salvador, specializing in the production of high quality honey, pollen, propolis and wax (all in compliance with national beekeeping regulations). Made up of 15 women and 17 men, our Association’s productive activities allow us to provide training and employment to local youth during the harvesting, maintenance, processing, and marketing stages of our product’s elaboration. Beekeeping is an environmentally friendly activity, and the pollination services provided by our bees improves the community’s coffee, grain, and fruit harvests. We became beekeepers as a result of our search for environmentally-sustainable, profitable productive initiatives, and we now work in an integrative manner with all of our producers, combining our beekeeping activities with fruit and coffee cultivation in the north of Morazán, and with fruit and cereal production in other regions. We do not produce large volumes, therefore export is still a distant priority for us, but our honey has been evaluated by prestigious international buyers interested in sourcing it. We are currently focused on honey as a raw material to which we can add value, and thus increase the economic benefit to our families.
