Sanoma are part of the Yanomami people living in the region of Awaris, Terra Indígena Yanomami, in the northwestern part of Roraima, Brazil. They have ancestral knowledge of agricultural systems, ecology of the region and the harvesting of wild, edible mushrooms. They have organized themselves, with the help of Instituto Socioambiental in order to produce 10 types of mushrooms and commercialize them in big cities like Sao Paulo.
