| Bio: | Here in the Ecuadorean Amazon, the local indigenous peoples have thousands of years of experience with natural medicines from the forest. In the Omaere Ethnobotanical Park, Teresa Shiki, an indigenous Shuar woman, prepares natural medicines. She has more than 35 years of experience in the natural medicine that she learned from her mother and grandparents, and all ingredients come from the plants of Omaere and the region. Most medicines are prepared upon request to adjust to the needs of the patient and because preparations are perishable. Although some of the medicines are not perishable and can be exported around the world. Teresa has cured many illnesses especial with chronic physical issues (such as diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, inflammation of the urinary tract and kidneys) and women’s health issues (including fertility).
