QUILPA Coffee Roaster, improving coffee variety and promoting conservation in San Martin, Peru.

Bio:

Having worked with many visitors to the region through Casa de Palos Boutique (http://casadepalos.pe/), we noticed a demand for organic coffee, that was, unfortunately, unavailable due to poor coffee quality and management practices. We nonetheless began learning about the process of roasting coffee, and finally met a family of nine coffee producing brothers in the region of San Roque de Cumbaza. Although not certified, they use organic practices, and together we are working to improve the quality of their coffee, while also establishing a commercial relationship that provides them with a stable income and an economic incentive to maintain their forests.
