| Bio: | The Integral Agroextractivist Farmer’s Cooperative of Pando (COINACAPA) works since 2001 in the collection and direct exportation of organic brazil nuts. COINACAPA has had an accelerated growth, having achieved premium fair prices for its members. COINACAPA enables paths to enter the forest and dedicates the months of December through March to the harvest and centralized collection; in May and June, it transports brazil nuts to Riberalta to go through the manufacturing process and later in July, production is marketed abroad. Harvesting, collection and transportation are all done under FLO-CERT and Organic certification guidelines. COINACAPA is currently facing a political struggle with regards to deforestation and to mitigate it has begun to develop actions such as the design of a forest seedling propagation complex, an initiative entirely promoted with the cooperative’s own funds.
