As members and founders of the Union Certification for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), we promote 'sourcing with respect' of ingredients derived from biodiversity. We are committed to promote sustainable business growth, ensuring that our sourcing practices support the conservation of biodiversity, respect traditional knowledge, and ensure equitable distribution of benefits along the value chain of natural products. Promoting the Brazil nut value chain and marketing non-timber forest products, we contribute to the care of the Amazon and the conservation of the harvesting cultures. Through these activities, we can generate sustainable economic alternatives to timber, mining and hydrocarbon extraction activities.
We use the market as a development tool. Our business model links a sustainable use of the 'natural capital' of Peru to the generation of income for rural areas and forests. As members of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and the Union Certification for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), we create market opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers with concern for their social, economic and environmental well-being. We pay fair prices, providing capacity building and promoting producers’ support projects focused on improving their living and health conditions. We promote formal employment in Amazon regions.
