| Bio: | ADIPROCAY, the Association of Camu Camu Producers was formed in 2002 to unite the camu camu producers working in different farms, towns, and indigenous communities in the Yarinacocha district. One of the Association’s main objectives is to increase their collective volumes of fruit produced, allowing them to sell to local and national buyers. ADIPROCAY developed an associated system of camu camu farms that can be harvested year round, providing income, and improving soils through organic fertilizers, which have also increased yields from two to four tons of quality fruit per hectare. The Association has also improved its postharvest management, reducing losses to contamination and improper handling by 30%. Due to these efforts, ADIPROCAY has become of the leading organizations dedicated to camu camu production, and has been nationally recognized. |
